I have been doing Demand Our Access for more than two years. During this time, one thing has become clear: it is not going to be enough to simply provide people legal information. If I want people to realize the benefits for themselves of demanding their access and to assist our community in achieving greater access by demanding their access I need to explain a lot more about my philosophy of disability access.
Moving forward, I am no longer going to share only information related to the law and advocacy; I am also going to share more about my thoughts and feelings about our civil rights movement. I will also review books about those of us with disabilities and our community.
I’m hopeful that by sharing more information about our civil rights movement I can better help members of our community understand our struggle for equity and appreciate how all of us can do something to make things better for our community.
I hope those of you here for the law will recognize the value of these different posts, because I believe they are necessary if more of us are going to start demanding our access.
